Sporting Kansas City, known by their fans as Sporting, Sporting KC, Wizards, and The Wiz were founded in 1995 originally as Kansas City Wizards. The club is one of the ten charter clubs who have played in the MLS since its inception. The team rebranded itself as Sporting Kansas City in November 2010 to coincide with their move to a new stadium.
